About Me

about

Hi, I’m Kasia.

I grew up in Toronto, Canada, and now live in the Italian countryside. My love of travel came about rather by accident. After my first year of university, my friend and I decided to go to Paris together. She bailed at the last minute, so I went alone. The rest, as they say, is history.

I spent three glorious weeks in Paris, immersing myself in the city’s rich culture and history. I strolled the streets and bridges, visited countless museums, churches and parks, and let history come alive all around me. My time in Paris sparked my love for travel and ignited my passion for sharing my adventures with others, although it would take a lot of years for me to actually launch a travel blog.

After I finished my degree in history from the University of Toronto, I embarked on a career in communications and then in economic development. I travelled the world both for work and pleasure, always craving that next adventure. Even though I loved my career, there was something pulling me towards travel.

How this blog got started

I started this blog on a whim to write down my thoughts and impressions of the places I’ve visited. It was a creative outlet that helped me document the places I’ve been and fallen in love with. It also allowed me to write whatever I wanted without constraints, which was something I really longed for at the time.

I’m happiest exploring ancient ruins, UNESCO World Heritage Sites, cultural sites and museums. I’m also a self-professed castle, architecture and art lover. As I love collecting random facts and historical trivia, a part of me always feels like I’m back at school, writing essays. Don’t worry, my posts are not boring history class assignments that will put you to sleep.

I am also an adventurer at heart, and I love epic landscapes, outdoor adventures and connecting with nature whenever possible. While you will not catch me camping, you will find me zip-lining, snowmobiling on glaciers, hiking and lounging on the beach. I love the mountains just as much as I love the ocean – they both offer different kinds of beauty that appeal to me.

I write about culture, adventure, exploration and discovery. All the things that drive me to travel to all the different corners of this world. You will find lots of posts about museums, architecture, UNESCO sites, historical tidbits and fun facts. You WILL NOT find anything about the best Instagram spots or fast food recommendations here. While I do love to share my travels on IG, it’s not the main reason I go places.

My core values

For me, travel is not just about visiting new places or experiencing different cultures but also about making a positive impact on the world. That’s why I have a personal set of values that guide how I travel and write about my adventures. Respect for the environment, community, and local culture is at the core of everything I do. I strive to be a responsible traveller and promote sustainable tourism practices wherever I go.

Additionally, I value inclusivity and strive to create content that is accessible and enjoyable for everyone, regardless of their background or experience. These principles give purpose to everything I do and share with my readers. I’m always looking for brands and partners who share these values. I believe in collaborating with like-minded people and organizations to create a positive impact. Ultimately, my goal is to inspire and empower others to travel with purpose, explore the world mindfully, and make their own positive impact wherever they go.

Forge your own path

Don’t just follow blindly what others are doing. Dig deeper, challenge yourself and seek new discoveries that will change the way you see the world.

Live an adventure

The world is an amazing place, and we have a limited amount of time to see it. Never look back with regrets. Make memories that will last a lifetime.

Have an open mind

Be open to new ideas, people and experiences. Travel tends to break down barriers and misconceptions. Embrace it.

Question everything

Don’t always believe everything you read. Don’t let other people’s preconceived notions and opinions influence your view of places and the people who live there.

Travel curiously

Discover the world for yourself. The cultures and civilizations that have come and gone before us. Who were they, and how did they shape our world?

Travel responsibly

Reduce waste and leave places the way you found them. Respect local culture and choose sustainable tour operators. Stand up for wildlife.

About Kasia FAQ

Kasia is pronounced Kah-sha, which rhymes with Tasha or Russia.

I live in a small town in the province of Campania in Italy. I’m about an hour away from Naples and the Amalfi Coast.

This is always a tough question. I’ve been to many amazing places that appealed to me for many different reasons. I would definitely consider Italy, Iceland, Germany, Poland and Latvia as my top five.

Despite my attempts at learning languages, I am only fluent in English. I can get by in Polish and Italian and have a basic understanding of German.

I am definitely not a morning person, I don’t suffer from jetlag, and I prefer the aisle seat.

Unfortunately, at this time, I don’t offer travel planning services. You can check out my destinations page for travel ideas

I do a lot of research online and use several websites I trust as my go-to’s. You can check out my favourite travel planning websites here.

Thank you so much!  You can send me an email with more details at hello[at]kasiawrites[.]com

Ever since I quit my full-time job, I’ve been working as a social media manager and freelance writer. I also write mystery novels in my free time.

As of this moment, I work alone and I’m not hiring anyone.
