I’m not sure why I’ve never really considered Portugal on top of my list of places to visit. It was there, sort of waiting for an opportunity to be explored and discovered. This year, we finally decided to go to there and I can’t believe it has taken us so long to get there.
Portugal at first sight
First of all, we both found Portugal to be a very beautiful place although we only saw Lisbon and Porto. We were both pleasantly surprised by both places. We were hungry for more. I was particularly surprised that almost everyone spoke English. This was definitely helpful since neither one of us speaks Portuguese. We also felt very welcomed by everyone we met.
Most of all, I loved the architecture, the colours and the history. I must admit that as far as European history goes, I am not as versed in Portugal’s as I am in others, which might be a bit odd considering I’m a history major. It was one of those trips that really made me interested in learning more about this place and we will definitely go back to explore more.
Since, I am getting to writing more detailed posts about those places, I’m going to share some of the places we saw to give you little taste of the country as experienced by us.

Overall, we found Portugal to be a very lovely place. Have you been? What’s your fave spot?
