When I started this journey as a travel blogger, I never anticipated connecting with so many people across the world who share my passion and love for travel. Even better has been meeting some of them!
Few months ago I wrote about the ups and downs of travel blogging. It was sort of a personal breakthrough for me, a time when I finally became comfortable with the idea of travel blogging and what it meant, even if it was something different from I originally expected. Then came another post where I realized that there were some unexpectedly pleasant effects of travel blogging, those being connecting with like-minded people.
Now, even before my blog turns one, I was able to finally meet two of my blogger friends and it was so much fun!
Lisbon with blogger friend Elena
This summer when Alex and I went to Lisbon, we met up with Elena from Miss Elenka blog. Elena is well versed in Portugal and it was her writing about the country that really piqued my interest of going there. You should totally check out her pics of cute Portuguese houses!
Elena met us near our hotel and took us around Lisbon to places we haven’t managed to visit on our own. We ended up hanging out with the locals, enjoying some adult beverages in the jam-packed streets and having a great time. You can’t drink on the streets in Canada, so for us that was a much enjoyable experience.
We managed to spend few hours with Elena on our last night in Lisbon and left with recommendations for places to visit in and near Porto, which was our next stop. Thank you Elena!
Toronto with blogger friend Anub
My second travel blogger friend ended up coming to Toronto! Last week I met with Anub from DreamsVoyager blog and was able to spend some time with him right here at home. If you haven’t checked out his blog yet, make sure you do. Anub is a wonderful writer and has been to some really amazing places.
We met for couple of hours and I provided him some information on what to see and do in Toronto before having to go to an unexpected work event. Fortunately, we were able to meet up again the next evening for a drink. It was really fun to talk shop and get some ideas for my travel blogger career. Thank you for the great ideas Anub!
Two different blogger friends, both great experiences! Hope our paths cross again 🙂
Have you met any other travel bloggers? Are you going anywhere exciting soon that you hope to meet up with someone? I wonder if there is a way that we can share those potential meet ups somehow. Thoughts?
Yes! Sign me up for more 🙂
